A new state police helicopter was shone by a laser as it flew over southern Sydney.
They then arrested a 19-year-old man.
Just after midnight, police helicopters were patrolling around Kingsgrove when a laser shot at them.
They immediately began to investigate the source of the laser.
Around 12:30, police came to a resident in Kingsgrove and found a 19-year-old talking and found a laser flashlight in his home.
He was accused of threatening the safety of passengers on board and using lasers to irradiate public areas.
It is reported that he will be tried in the Burwood District Court on April 4.
