On Thursday night, a gang of violent teenagers beat the chef with metal rods outside of St Kilda restaurant Donovans, the Herald Sun reported.
At about 10:30, several African-looking teenage gangs attacked several chefs in front of diners, including the husband of one of the injured who told the Herald Sun details of the attack.
According to the injured man`s description, a cook was beaten to even see the skull.
It is reported that 6 teenagers with iron bars in their hands, began to beat the chef. The chefs, who had just finished work, did not expect to be beaten out of the shop. The injured man`s husband said the teenagers eventually blocked traffic and stopped other cooks from coming out to help.
Some of the chefs trapped in the restaurant finally ran out, pulled in injured colleagues and stopped the teenagers with shovels and large firefighters.
"they had steel bars in their hands and hid them in the sleeves of their clothes. My wife was in the restaurant. She saw these people running across the road and blocking the traffic. There were more gangsters than cooks, and they blocked the door, preventing other cooks from going out to help, but the injured were dragged in. One of them was even hit enough to see the skull. The chefs used the food in the restaurant to fight the teenagers and drag the injured co-workers to safety. It is reported that the fighting lasted 20 minutes, after the police arrived at the scene, the teenagers fled.
