Last month, a young Queensland girl was lost in the woodland by a deaf, half-blind old dog named Max, who protected her. Now, Max officially became Queensland`s first honorary police dog.

On April 20, 3-year-old Aurora lost a large business near Warwick in Southern Downs, Kunju, but she had Max beside her to comfort her and warm her up.

Aurora`s grandmother and more than 100 SES volunteers, the police searched for her on wet and cold nights.

But in the end, 17-year-old Max led people to her.

Max`s loyalty led the police to decide to award him the honorary dog title.

On Tuesday, the police officially did so.

The Warwick police chief, James Deacon, and the Darling Downs district dog team chief, Trevor Oz, 39 Neil, came to see Max..

They gave Max dogs collars and badges.

Max looks happy.

I hope he won`t be required to serve soon.
