According to a new report, more than 1 million Australians with jobs receive little or no pay equivalent to the minimum wage, equivalent to 10 percent, according to the Australian News Network.

Nearly half of Australians say they often work overtime outside normal office hours, including meetings and training, but fail to get paid, according to a new report from Kronos, a human resources software provider. Eleven percent said their pay was not equal to working hours. 43 percent of Australians said they had been paid below the minimum salary in their careers. More than 15 percent have found that their salaries are higher than those of their immigrant colleagues. 25 percent have received cash pay because employers can avoid paying taxes by doing so.

It is reported that the most serious wage exploitation is the service industry.

Busby (Will Barsby), an expert on employment law at Shine Lawyers, said the service sector is vulnerable to exploitation because it is mostly young, unskilled or immigrant, plus that some people don`t know their rights and are eager to work.

In addition, backpackers are subject to visa restrictions and are often exploited while working in Australia.

Last week, (UNSW), University of New South Wales, (University of Sydney), University of Sydney, and (UTS), Sydney University of Technology, released a joint report showing that 1 / 3 backpackers and students working in Australia earn only half of the minimum salary. Fifteen percent of fruit and vegetable pickers earn less than A $5 an hour.

Hart (Peter Harte), managing director of Kronos, said it was disappointing that even as the Australian economy matured, most Australians were exploited in the workplace, while Australians worked harder than ever at a time of slow wage growth. This is not conducive to the prosperity and intelligence needed by Australia to compete in the international market.
