His patient has been quarantined after a Sydney doctor diagnosed a new type of coronavirus, fearing the doctor may have passed it on to others during a medical treatment.

Other colleagues at the doctor`s hospital in Ryde, north-west Sydney, were also ordered to be quarantined for 14 days.

NSW Chief Health Officer Kerrie Chant said patients who had been treated by the doctor were asked to be kept in isolation at home for some time.

The doctor was diagnosed with the new coronavirus late Monday afternoon. It`s unclear when he has symptoms, but Dr Chant said the doctor was likely to treat patients when they were ill, and before they suspected they were infected with CoVID-19.

"Maybe he wasn`t aware of his condition," said Dr. Chant," and he may be less likely to think of being diagnosed.

"We still don`t know how he got the infection. We are currently investigating. He didn`t care for any cases of yang vereal disease, but we`re doing extra research on the patients he`s seen to see if there`s any undiagnosed cases. "

Dr Chant said the doctor had been in contact with many patients during the period they were investigating. "Of course he`ll meet a lot of patients," she said. "

Four new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in the new state and one in Queensland. All of these new cases are recently returned from overseas.

A 39-year-old man flying from Iran, a 53-year-old man flying from Singapore, a woman in her 60s returning from South Korea, and another woman in her 60s returning from Japan have been confirmed in the new state government.

The country is preparing for a local pandemic, with the new state health minister Brad Hazzard describing the spread of the virus as a "rapidly changing situation."
