A 69-year-old man was arrested at Egicliffe (Edgecliff) on Thursday morning by (Robbery and Serious Crime Squad), the robbery unit of (State Crime Command), the new state`s fight crime headquarters, after extensive investigations.
Police said the man visited eight different banks between downtown Sydney and (Chatswood) between 1977 and 1978 and handed out threatening notes to bank staff to steal cash.
The man was charged with eight counts of robbery.
Detective Superintendent Dorty (Daniel Doherty) said today`s operation sends a clear message that police will track criminals for 40 minutes, 40 days or 40 years and that they will be brought to justice.
The man was denied bail and appeared in the Winfrey District Court at (Waverley Local Court) later today.
