Three arrested on suspicion of assaulting police in Armadale

Police revealed that PSO was hit in the head with a bottle by an unidentified woman while patrolling the Armadale train station at about 8: 00 last night.

When the police arrived, the woman kicked one of the officers, according to people at the scene.

The 26-year-old Northcote woman and 25-year-old Bentleigh man have been taken to hospital for evaluation.

The woman is expected to be charged with two subpoenas for beating emergency workers.

The man will be charged with a summons by the assault paramedics.

The 27-year-old western Heidelberg man was released pending further investigation.

Prime Minister Daniel Andrews said last night`s PSO attacks were further evidence of the need for mandatory prison sentencing laws to protect our staff from attacks.

Government announced that anyone convicted of assaulting emergency workers would be sentenced to six months in prison.

"this is a timely and very sad reminder that the policy announced recently needs to be launched very quickly."

"PSO will also be included in this policy."

Earlier, a judge allowed two women convicted of assaulting medical workers to escape mandatory sentences.

Mr. Andrews said the government will work with the Police Association and other emergency unions to amend existing laws.
