A Chinese woman who fired three shots at his ex-boyfriend, cut off his head and dumped her body in the river, was released on parole after 18 years in prison. But the victim`s body has not yet been found.
Yang Jianhui, 47, was granted parole by the New State Parole Administration yesterday, the Daily Mail reported. Yang Jianhui is a Hong Kong immigrant and a former psychiatric nurse.
In 1997, Doryan (Christopher Dorrian), who was Yang Jianhui`s boyfriend, disappeared. At the time, reports pointed out that in June 1997, Yang Jianhui quarrelled with Doryan, then 31, because she was unhappy with Doryan`s offer to break up at the time. During the period, Yang Jianhui shot Doryan three times in the head and killed him, and then dismembered him and divided him into corpses. And put it in a black plastic bag and throw it into the river.
Two weeks later, authorities found Doryan`s badly damaged head in a sports bag washed up on the (Cooks River) bank of the Cook River, but the rest of the body remains unaccounted for.
Ms Yeung was later convicted of murder and sentenced in 2000 to 24 years` imprisonment without parole for 18 years. And her non-parole period is due to expire on July 6th.
A spokesman for the New State Parole Administration said Yang Jianhui will be released by July 13 this year, when she is required to comply with the standard parole procedures and four additional conditions, including her inability to contact, observe and follow up. Harass or intimidate the victim`s family.
Doryan`s son James (James Dorrian) was only nine years old when his father was killed. He objected to Yang Jianhui`s parole last year and called on the government to amend laws to force murderers to give up where the victims` bodies were located.
