据《每日邮报》报道,严重干旱迫使一些袋鼠进入了城市城区内,以争夺食物和水。

In recent weeks, kangaroos have appeared in (Ainslie), an area just 3.5km from Canberra, and in nearby Hackett (Hackett). Residents of Tagron (Tuggeranong) and Wharden (Woden) also found these uninvited visitors grazing on the lawn of their front yard.

On Tuesday, a video on Youtube showed a group of kangaroos skipping over several vehicles parked on the street in search of food.

Iglesias (Daniel Iglesias), head of (ACT Parks and Conservation), Australia`s capital park and reserve agency, said the frost made the grass drier, adding to the food crisis for kangaroos. Some kangaroos have to go farther than ever in search of food. They are forced to go to the playground, the front yard of the house, the alley, or the roadside looking for green grass.

As drought worsens, some farmers are being forced to spend tens of thousands of Australian dollars transporting hay to feed animals. Some farmers had no choice but to shoot some because of the rapid decline in livestock food.

在全澳范围内,均有农民在牧场发现大量袋鼠的尸骨。这些尸骨通常会迅速被狐狸等野生动物分食掉。

In the near term, Malcolm Turnbull, the Australian prime minister, unveiled a package to help farmers cope with the drought crisis and to help people in need of psychological guidance, a total of about $140 million.
