Dozens of centennial tombstones have been vandalized in a historic Australian cemetery, breaking the hearts of families.
According to the Daily Mail, there are about 60 graves in (Talia Cemetery), the historic Talia cemetery in (Elliston), western Adelaide, South Australia, 26 of which have been vandalized, smashed or knocked down.
The oldest damaged tombstone, allegedly set in 1903. There are, however, many tombstones dating back to the 1890`s.
Cameron (Phil Cameron), the (Elliston Council) chief executive of the Aliston Parliament, said it was a "malicious, pointless" act of sabotage and was disappointed.
Police are now involved in the investigation, and Cameron speculates that the vandalism took place over the weekend.
Cameron also said the Talia cemetery buried Aliston`s pioneers and ancestors.
Local resident Kai (Nita Kay) `s father and two brothers were buried at the Talia cemetery, and three tombstones were destroyed. Kay said he was deeply disgusted by such acts of destruction, unwilling to talk too much about them, and only hoped that the spoilers would be brought to justice as soon as possible.
