Lazy backpackers are accused of leaving large quantities of old vehicles at (Perth Airport), Burs Airport, when they return home. It is understood that last year alone, more than 100 cars were abandoned at Perth Airport.

According to the Herald Sun, Perth Airport issued a warning that if within a few days the owner of the airport will not be able to identify the vehicles, the airport will take steps to remove the vehicles.

Burs spokesman Kate (Debra Blaskett) said most of the cars left at the airport were not in good condition, belonging to vehicles that had not been registered or were unfit to drive on the road. Most of these cars are left behind by backpackers. Some backpackers came to Australia to buy cheap cars to go everywhere, but when they left Australia, they didn`t have the time to sell them, so they abandoned them at the airport.

It is understood that once a vehicle is considered likely to be abandoned, the airport will retain it for 90 days, during which time the police will investigate the background of the vehicle. It will then be announced that if no one comes to the airport within 14 days, the car will become the property of the airport, and most of it will be sold as scrap. Some will be used for airport fire service training.
