A New Zealand flight to Sydney was canceled Wednesday night because of a safe threat, a man claimed to have bomb on board, the Daily Mail reported.

It is reported that on Wednesday night, New Zealand Airlines (Air New Zealand) flight NZ711 is preparing to take off from Auckland Airport (Auckland Airport) for Sydney. At around 9 o`clock, however, passengers were told there were safety issues on board and the plane had to return to the boarding gate.

A female passenger from Australia said the captain told the passengers that a man claimed to have bomb on board.

Passengers were reported to have been waiting for about an hour or so as police boarded the plane with a police dog to inspect the man`s seat.

New Zealand police said in a statement that the crew was informed of a passenger`s bomb remarks and informed the police around 08:45.

It is understood that a 19-year-old man was arrested on charges of violating the Aviation Safety Act. (Civil Aviation Act), appeared before the (Manukau District Court) District Court in Manucau on Thursday.

Affected by the incident, flight NZ711 was cancelled, passengers rescheduled Thursday`s flight.

Air New Zealand said the flight, which had also been scheduled for Thursday from Sydney to (Queenstown), Queens, had also been cancelled.
