A 29-year-old murderer, Derek Barrett, appeared in New York High Court today for a sentencing hearing in the murder of a Chinese student, Leng Meng-mei (English name Michelle), charged with a total of 22 counts.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the killer, Barrett, admitted to hiding his body in his home for up to two days after the brutal killing of Leng Mengmei, then dumped his body in the wild in an attempt to cover up the crime.

Cold Mengmei, who moved to Sydney five years ago and graduated from Sydney University of Science and Technology, lived with her aunt, uncle Barrett and aunt with the daughter of her ex-husband during her studies. In April 2016, Leng Mengmei was brutally murdered by her uncle. The body was hidden at home for 2 days and dumped in the wild, only 25 years old.

Barrett, a 29-year-old former information technology business, has pleaded guilty to murder, detention for gain and three counts of molestation of people over the age of 16. Today, he attended a sentencing hearing in the New State High Court, claiming that he had been drug-addicted, drug-affected and uncontrolled at the time of the incident.

Means, cruel victims, at least 40 bucks.

On Thursday, April 21, 2016, Leng Mengmei went shopping in Sydney`s central business district, followed by a gathering with friends at Sydney Fish Market (Sydney Fish Markets), according to information disclosed in August. At midnight, she texted a friend-the last sign of her activity.

In the morning of Friday, April 22, 2016, Leng Mengmei was alone with him at his home in Kent (Campsie), West Sydney, according to the killer, Barrett. Barrett tied Leng Mengmei, shut his mouth, photographed 19 nude photos, and then brutally killed her.

Autopsy reports showed at least 40 stabs in her neck, a 40-millimeter-deep wound in the neck that nearly cut off her throat. It is understood that Leng Mengmei in the fatal injury did not immediately die.

Prosecutors said Leng Mengmei had suffered "very terrible humiliation." "one of the photos shows that the victim was strapped but still alive with an expression of extreme panic on his face."

Two days later, on Sunday, April 24, Barrett wrapped the body of Leng Mengmei in a black plastic sheet, placed it in the trunk, and drove to Cape Snap (Snapper Point), in (Munmorah State Conservation Area), (Central Coast), on the central coast of New State. And threw the body into a cave on a cliff. Barrett also used his mobile phone to take pictures of the scene.

Two witnesses told homicide investigators they remembered seeing Barrett in the area. Barrett also told them: "I do not recommend you go down." Witnesses looked down at the cliff, but found nothing unusual.

In the morning, tourists found a body with a face facing down in the cave.

The assailant lied to the police

The next day, Barrett and Leng Mengmei`s aunt went to Kent Police Station to report that Leng Mengmei was "missing". Police found that the body in the cave was Leng Meng-mei, based on information provided by the Barrett couple.

On April 27, before the body was officially identified, Barrett went to the police station again to provide "clues" in an attempt to mislead the police. He says victims frequent parties, nightclubs, alcohol, dating, and online dating apps.

A few days later, police questioned the Barrett couple and their stepdaughter, and collected samples on the Lengmenmei toothbrush for DNA analysis. Police arrested Barrett and filed murder charges after confirming Leng Mengmei`s DNA.

On April 22, when Leng Meng-mei was killed, her aunt was at work in (Wollongong), Wolonggang, where her daughter had returned home and stayed for more than three hours. At the same time, Barrett was taking a shower in the bathroom, where cold Mengmei was tied to death.

Barrett was known to have filmed Leng Meng-mei taking a naked bath and caressing her while she was asleep.

Pleaded guilty to allegations that drug abuse resulted in amnesia

On Barrett`s sentencing results, Leng Mengmei`s mother Zhang Mei said she hoped the court would give the strictest sentence. "he should be in prison all his life and never be released."

During the trial, Barrett pleaded guilty to all of the charges and wept in court, saying he had "betrayed two families" and was "guilty of what he deserved."

Barrett says she does have sexual fantasies about Leng Mengmei. On the day of the murder, he ate methamphetamine, causing his thoughts and behavior to be completely out of control. When he woke up, he found blood in the sink, but his memory was blank. The reason to lie to the police is also because, "completely do not remember what happened before."

But Forensic psychologist Dr. (Richard Furst) retorts that methamphetamine usually does not result in memory loss, especially in terms of what killer calls usage. "from killing to the disposal of the body, his purpose is clear."

It is understood that Barrett had previously told Aunt Leng Mengmei that he was fascinated by Leng Mengmei and wished to have sex with her.

At present, sentencing trial has not yet been completed.
