Judge Norman said in his sentence that Xu Longwei had claimed to the victim that "you can`t refuse me." She pointed out that when the two arrived at the hotel, the victim was apparently drunk, while Xu Longwei was "looking for an opportunity to commit a crime", "using the victim`s vulnerability to drink for the benefit of the victim."
Judge Norman said Xu continued to persevere in being "opposed and resisted" by the victim, "reflecting his arrogance" and "optimistic that his charisma and apparent links to wealth will cause the victim to succumb to him."
The beginning and end of Xu Longwei`s incident

Plaintiff said that many male guests on the same day to her wine, but the host Liu Qiangdong did not. She told the jury that she was so drunk at the eight-man dinner that she could hardly stand or sit up.
Defense lawyer Weber claimed that plaintiff had "seriously and deliberately" exaggerated the extent of his drunkenness, but plaintiff denied it.

On July 11, 2018, plaintiff testified in court that a male friend named Sam had subsequently tried to persuade her not to sue Xu Longwei.
Plaintiff said: "(Sam) asked me why I want to sue Tommy, if I insist (sue Xu Longwei) will make life threat."
Plaintiff said Sam took her to a lawyer, who showed her a statement stating that she had volunteered to have sex with Xu Longwei, but she refused to sign it.
Plaintiff also said in an interview with prosecutor Talbot (Sarah Talbert) that Sam later said she would give her A $ one hundred thousand in exchange for a change in her statement, but she also refused.
On July 17, 2018, Gao Li (Li Gao, a former student of Xu Longwei`s sexual partner, testified in court.
Gao Li, who appeared as a defense witness, called Xu Longwei a gentleman and "the obedient side" in bed.
