The woman in Sydney's Chinese district was attacked by strangulation, and the suspect was arrested yesterday.

Police reported that on Wednesday night, a 27-year-old woman was passing through Brandt Street, (Bland St), in (Ashfield), a Chinese district, when she noticed a man following her, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The woman then walked into the front yard of a building in (Julia St) on Julia Street, where the man allegedly attacked her, allegedly tying a bicycle cable around her neck and dragging her to the ground. This resulted in serious injuries to the victim`s neck and fell into a semi-coma.

Fortunately, a 53-year-old woman inside a car parked near the scene heard the victim`s call and stopped it with a 49-year-old male friend. The assailant rushed away after hitting the 49-year-old man in the face with a punch.

The victim was subsequently taken to the Royal Alfred Prince Hospital at (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) for treatment.

On Friday, new state police released a picture of a man in a live surveillance video saying they wanted to talk to him about the attack as soon as possible. On Saturday morning, police arrested a 24-year-old man in (Alexandria), Alexandria.

The man, accused of deliberately strangling, assaulting and three other charges, was denied bail at the bail court (Parramatta Bail Court) in Balama yesterday.
