A transgender sex worker in Australia who had unprotected sexual behavior, with a man was sentenced to six years in a male prison and commuted to four years on appeal.

Australian resident Palmer (Clayton James Palmer), who lived as a woman, was convicted of serious personal injury in Western Australia District Court (West Australian District Court) earlier this year and sentenced to six years in prison, Australian News Network reported.

Palmer considered the sentence excessive and appealed to the Court of Appeal of Western Australia, (WA Court of Appeal). Today, the Court of Appeal in Western Australia announced that Palmer's sentence would be reduced to four years and that she could be released on parole as early as April next year.

Palmer travelled to the Western Australian Drug abuser Association (WA Substance Users Association) in August 2014 to receive a sexually transmitted disease test and was told there were positive signs of HIV, according to sources.

Palmer did not respond to any calls and text messages to return visits and continued to advertise through the network to provide sexual service.

Shortly afterwards, Palmer met the victim and then had sex many times until August 2015. At the time, Palmer told the victim that she would undergo regular medical examinations. In September of that year, the victim's tests found that he was infected with HIV.
