Sydney`s new light rail has suffered a second power outage in just a few weeks, station 9 reported.
The $2.7 billion light rail system opened last month. Light rail lines were shut down for nearly an hour between central station and Town Hall today due to a power outage in the city of Haymarket.

Some passengers said it was the second failure of the new system today.
Revellers who traveled to Sydney Cricket Ground to watch Australia play New Zealand said they suffered delays near Moore Park at 10am.
Charles Cranfield tweeted:" Just before Moore Park Station, we were stuck in a malfunctioning tram. If you want to be on time for your first goal at the Sydney Boardwalk through Central.
David Lannan said on Twitter:" Oh my God, from Central Station to Moore Park, swapped the@EastBusesEast (the New State Transportation Department`s Twitter account of the Sydney EastBus service) for the # LightBrail. The light rail doesn`t even move, and there`s little hope. "
Spaker, the new state traffic department, said the shift is now operating again.
She said:" At around 12:10 p.m., Transdev told a tram on the L2 Randwick line to be trapped at the junction of Hay Street and George Street after a power outage. "
"The stalled tram blocks the intersection, meaning that neither the L2 Range nor the L1 Inner West Line can pass through it. "
The tram was able to leave the junction just before 1 p.m. and returned to the Randwick Stabling Yard for inspection. L1 The inner-west tram then resumes all flights. "
"At about 0940 this morning, a signal point malfunctioned in Moore Park, resulting in a brief outage of all southbound light rail services. "
Customers were diverted to take the Special Event bus from Chalmers Street. At 10 a.m., the light rail service was fully restored.
