According to comprehensive reports in Taiwan`s media, on April 10, the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" of the Taiwan authorities, (MOFA), said: It has done its best to help Wu Tse-chun, a Taiwanese student detained in (Christmas Island Immigration Detention Centre), an illegal immigration detention centre on Christmas Island in (Christmas Island), Australia, despite complaints from family members that Taiwan should do more.

Wu Zejun`s family said at a news conference in Taipei that the 31-year-old Taiwanese student, Wu Zejun, was detained at the police station and detention center late last year after being detained at the police station and detention center at the end of last year when he was studying in Australia because of what the Australian police considered to be involved in the intimidation incident. After paying the bail, Wu Zejun`s student visa was cancelled and he was held in an illegal immigration detention facility in Brisbane. On March 9, he was transferred to Christmas Island detention center, and Australia never notified the Taiwanese authorities or the families of overseas students.

Wu`s brother said at the conference that his family had been seeking help from Taiwan`s representative office in Brisbane, but the office said it would not be involved in the ongoing legal case involving foreign government, referring to Australia`s government.

Chiu E-ling, secretary general of the Taiwan Association for the Promotion of Human Rights (TAHR), accompanied Wu`s family at a press conference, saying that the Wu family did not want official intervention in the foreign legal system. But just hope he can accompany Wu`s family to visit Wu Zejun, who is being held on Christmas Island.

Qiu Yiling called on Australia to set a date for the trial of Wu Zejun`s case as soon as possible, and urged Australia to improve the relevant legislation as soon as possible to clarify the length of detention in detention centres.

Taiwan ` s "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" spokesperson Andrew Lee said that the Taiwan office in Brisbane had visited the Brisbane detention center where Wu Zezhen was detained to ensure that his legal rights and personal safety were protected.

He also said that when Wu Zejun was transferred to Christmas Island, Taiwan representatives from Brisbane also went to the cable detention centre to ensure that Wu Zejun was not ill-treated.

In addition, it said Brisbane`s representative office had filled in an application to visit Wu Zejun on Christmas Island, but the application did not pass the review.
