In Melbourne`s most expensive apartment, a $32,999 toilet and a gold-plated remote control are a sign of luxury.

The The Muse complex on St Kilda Road has not yet been completed, but the penthouse is on sale for A $45 million.
That would break the record for Southbank`s Australia 108th project, which sold its penthouse for A $25 million in 2015.

Real estate developer Kane Devitt says potential buyers have emerged. "there are some local buyers who have a strong interest in the penthouse," he said. "We have been leading several potential buyers to have a private look at the property and they have been watching the property for some time."
The penthouse is equipped with everything the luxury apartment should have, including a self-cleaning toilet made by the Japanese brand Toto. The lavatory is more expensive than the average Australian car, and when the sensor is activated, the toilet cover automatically drives a combined flush.

The high-tech toilet has a self-cleaning function by spraying a layer of glaze onto the inside wall of the toilet each time it flushes, radiating ultraviolet light from the inside of the lid to reverse the photocatalytic reaction to decompose bacteria. It also has a nightlight and front and rear cleaning nozzles that can be programmed through a gold-plated remote control.
Devitt, who developed the 14-story tower with his father Peter, said the best toilet on the market must be chosen. "what we offer is the best penthouse life, so why not provide the best toilets on the market? the Toto toilet may not be as common in Australia as it is overseas, but it is widely recognized as a top luxury in the world," he said.
The gorgeous penthouse also features private swimming pools, billiard rooms, wine rooms, gyms, steam rooms and even round-the-clock rhythmic lights to help residents adjust their jet lag after overseas trips.

The penthouse is located on the tallest two floors of the building, with an area of 1001 square meters and a terrace area of 190 square meters. View the Port Phillip Bay, Shrine of Remembrance, Royal Botanical Garden and Melbourne City skyline.
"We want to build really luxurious apartments, and market research shows that this is what the Melbourne market is really missing, not because of a lack of demand, but because of a lack of supply," Devitt said.
The The Muse project, at the corner of St Kilda Road and Toorak Road West, uses high-tech security facilities that allow garage access only through license plate recognition. The building also uses facial and fingerprint scanners.
John Scaramuzzino, director of Bruce Henderson`s (Architects) firm and interior designer, said the apartment complex redefined the concept of "luxury."
"it`s definitely the most luxurious project we`ve ever been involved in," he said. "I think it`s probably the most luxurious apartment development in Melbourne, both in terms of overall quality and amenities."

The development of super-symbol-oriented upscale apartments in the St Kilda Road area is in full swing. Among them, Mayfair, designed by internationally renowned architect Zaha Hadid, consists of three towers, Magnolia Residences, and Albert Park Residences, developed by Tim Turner, Australia`s richest man. The target buyers for these projects are wealthy international buyers and wealthy local downsizer (big-for-small sellers, usually empty-nest seniors).
But none of these projects could replace a A $66 million apartment in Sydney as the most expensive apartment in Australia.
Construction of the The Muse project will be completed by the end of 2021.
