Two major polls published by Australia`s mainstream Chinese-language website show that Chinese voters in the city are mostly in favour of Unionparty.

The Australian Chinese website Sydney today and the New footprint Chinese Forum ("New footprint") recently conducted online opinion polls with a total sample of nearly 4500 people, the Australian newspaper reported. Both surveys show that Unionparty will win overwhelmingly.

The latest news poll, (Newspoll), shows that the current election situation is growing tense.

In the new footprints poll, registered users were asked which party they would vote for in the upcoming federal election. The results showed that only 19.71 percent of respondents chose Labour, well below 51.22 percent of Unionparty.

As of 10:00 on April 29, the survey was still open, with 2866 people interviewed, 82.5 percent of whom claimed to be eligible voters.

However, Andy Liu (Andy Liu), a Chinese resident of Altamon (Artarmon) on Sydney`s lower north coast, told the Australian newspaper that polls that thought the new footprint did not really reflect the overall Chinese vote trend in Australia. He noted that the respondents to the new footprints poll were mainly "white-collar workers in big cities, with an average age of over 40". "the majority of Chinese voters in this age group are in professional jobs and have little interest in Labour," he said.

The new footprints poll also showed that 2.27 percent of respondents supported the Green Party, 0.59 percent supported the one-country Party, 1.5 percent supported "other small political parties," and 1.4 percent supported independent candidates. 5.83% claimed "no vote for anyone or no vote".

On the other hand, as of 4pm on April 29, 1443 Chinese Australians who claimed to be eligible voters had taken part in today`s Sydney poll, accounting for 64.49% of the total; of that, 61.54% would vote for Unionparty and 28.41% for Labour.

Today`s Sydney poll shows that, economic, tax and foreign relationship / diplomacy are the top three priority areas for Chinese Australians. Polls also showed that 55. 5 percent of voters said good relationship with the Australian Chinese community did not determine their vote.

An Australian Chinese electorate alias Michael (Michael) told the Australian newspaper that the polls in Sydney today were objective enough because "there are more conservatives among Chinese voters in Australia".

Michael claims to have been in Australia for 20 years and is currently serving as a civil servant in Canberra. "the Chinese attach great importance to personal efforts, so the Liberal Party`s philosophy will be more appropriate," he said.

Michael himself conducted a poll on social app and interviewed 231 people. However, the results showed that the Liberal Party was behind Labour by 38 / 41, with another 4 percent choosing "other" and 17 percent saying "undecided." (Zhai Longwei)
