According to the Sydney Morning Herald, one person was in critical condition after a six-car collision in (North Ryde), North Ryder, the Sydney Chinese district, yesterday evening.

After the emergency service personnel received a report that there had been a multiple car collision on Yip Ping Road, near (Pittwater Road), Pitwater Road, they rushed to the accident section around 6:00 last night.

The doors of a number of cars were cracked and windows were broken, leaving a floor of glass and metal flakes.

A spokesman for the new state ambulance agency (NSW Ambulance) confirmed that emergency workers had treated seven patients on the spot. One of the men who received medical treatment suffered injuries to the head and neck and was in critical condition.

A spokesman for the new state fire rescue team, (NSW Fire and Rescue), said two people were trapped and had to break a car to rescue them.

A spokesman for (Northern Sydney Local Health District), a health district north of Sydney, confirmed that a 22-year-old woman in critical condition and a stable 37-year-old man were taken to (Royal North Shore Hospital)., Royal North Beach Hospital. Another 17-year-old woman and 48-year-old man were taken to Ryder Hospital (Ryde Hospital), in stable condition.

Traffic chaos was caused by the crash, with four lanes on Yeping Road closed for nearly two hours, new state traffic`s real-time news website (NSW LiveTraffic) said.

The details of the accident have not yet been announced, but a passer-by said it appeared that a car had turned into the reverse lane and crashed into four other vehicles.
