On Friday morning, a mechanic wearing a high-visibility vest was arrested at his home in west Sydney after police charged him with possession of drugs and a $45 million drug deal.

Recently, the police launched a special crackdown on the sale of drugs.

Just after 5 a.m. Friday, police arrested the 47-year-old man in Penrith, west of Sydney.

Shortly after his arrest, police raided a nearby home and seized about 85 kilograms of methylbenzoamine, 13 kilograms of cocaine and 2 kilograms of MDMA.

The potential market value of these drugs is estimated to exceed $45 million.

Inspector Beaufils said demand for drugs remained high in the new state, in addition to large quantities of illegal drugs seized.

"We know that these criminal organizations are driven by profits to sell drugs. The strong demand of the people directly fosters the greed of these criminal groups, and they do not hesitate to use it for their own benefit. "

"The police and our partners will continue to fight these drug cartels, but we need the support of the population to change the environment of these drug-trafficking."

In March, detectives from the organized Crime Unit of the National Crime Command set up a "special strike force" to investigate drug imports and supplies.

Organized Crime team Commander and Detective head Damian Beaufils said specialized strike forces have restricted access to the community`s drug supply.

"the new state police force, in cooperation with local and international law enforcement and intelligence agencies, has achieved great success in recent years, seizing large amounts of illegal drugs and millions of dollars in cash, which is illegal income," Beaufils said.

Today`s case is just one of a large-scale drug import and supply issue that will continue to be addressed by the Special strike Unit, Sharrock, and we still have a lot to do.

"We will continue to investigate the sources of these drugs, including the cases of drug imports being investigated, as well as those who manufacture them both at home and abroad."

The man was taken to the Penrith police station for interrogation and charged with three counts of large-scale commercial drugs.

He was denied bail and will appear again in the Penrith District Court on Friday, September 14, 2018.
