A fire broke out at a house in (Putney), north of Sydney, near 03:50 Saturday morning, killing a man in his 50s and sending four others to hospital, the Daily Telegraph and the Sydney Morning Herald reported. In addition, a pet dog and several pet snakes died.

It is reported that around 03:50 this morning, Paterney Stanley Street (Stanley Street) house fire broke out.

Emergency service personnel rushed to the scene after receiving the report and found a single man in his fifties in the fire house. The man died shortly after he was sent to the hospital. At present, his identity has not been formally determined.

In addition, a firefighter was physically overdrawn during the fire fighting, was also admitted to hospital after treatment at the scene, and has been discharged from hospital.

Six neighbors were evacuated at the time of the fire, four of whom lived next door to the burning house. They choked into smoke and were taken to hospital for treatment.

According to witnesses at the scene, the dead man was a hoarder with a lot of flammable materials in the house, which also prevented firefighters from rescuing him.

A spokesman for (NSW Fire and Rescue), the new state fire and rescue agency, said the accumulation of items in the fire house made it difficult for residents to escape from the fire, while also hampering the rescue of firefighters.

Neighbor Thomas (Phil Thomas) said the dead man lived alone, the house was rented, and the landlord lived next door. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the man out. The fire house also billowed with smoke and gave off a pungent smell of plastic-like combustion.

Rescue workers also found a pet dog and some pet snakes in the fire house, some of which have died, while the rest are being looked after by a wildlife organization.

It is not clear why the fire broke out in the house. The new state police said they would send professionals to inspect the site after the fire agency confirmed the site`s safety.
