In an effort to provide consumers with new ways to trade online, DHL, a multinational logistics company that accounts for half of the Qantas express market, and Hubbed, an Australian subsidiary of e-commerce giant eBay, Singapore Post, entered into a partnership agreement.

According to the Australian newspaper, DHL`s e-commerce division, together with eBay and Hubbed, allows eBay sellers to deliver the goods sold to Hubbed`s 1000 service points in Australia. Hubbed, eBay sellers can sell goods to customers in 220 countries around the world.

As online retailing giant Amazon (Amazon) enters Australia to grab market share with fast delivery services, competition in the logistics market is starting to heat up.

Founded in 2013, Hubbed is controlled 30 percent by Singapore Post, the Asian logistics giant, and offers parcel mail and extraction services at 1000 gas stations, convenience stores and book stores across Australia.

CEO Brewer (Charles Brewer), DHL e-business `s business, said the main advantage of the alliance was that its point-of-service network was open late, with more than 60 percent full-year round-the-clock business. Until then, online shop sellers could only send parcels during post office hours or wait for couriers to pick them up. Now sellers can post parcels as close as they want.

DHL`s e-commerce department has earlier set up a distribution centre in Sydney to meet Australians` demand for online shopping overseas, as well as for the development of online retailing.

DHL also intends to launch a so-called "last mile" service in Australia, considering a model similar to that of Uber (Uber), in which packages are delivered directly to customers` homes.

As part of a partnership with Hubbed, eBay sellers will receive a 20 percent discount on using the service to mail international parcels by mid-February, according to Brewer. Hubbed`s founder and chief executive, McLean (David McLean), points out. Australian online sales amount to about A $20 billion a year, packages are expected to soar, and both buyers and sellers need more convenient delivery and extraction of parcels.

He said that by partnering with eBay Australia, sellers could set up a Hubbed account associated with their eBay account to automatically generate mailing documents for overseas orders. Australia`s domestic sellers can also choose to pick up goods on Hubbed`s network.
