Most people put their driver's licenses in their wallets and carry them with them. But did you forget to bring your license or leave it in the wrong place? Do you want to know whether you need a driver's license or not?

In fact, the answer varies from state to state.

Victoria state

In Victoria, if you're a full-brand (Full Licence) driver over 26, the answer may be no. If stopped by the police, drivers need to provide identification, so it is recommended to travel with a driver's license.

"if you break the rules, you need to prove who you are." Alan (Pat Allan), senior patrol officer of the Bendigo (Bendigo) Highway Patrol, told the Bendigo Advertising.

State trainee drivers are forced to carry a driver's license and face a fine of A $155 if they fail to show their identity.

New state

Under new state law, "a motor vehicle driver shall not drive a vehicle unless he or she carries his or her driver's license". Therefore, all drivers must carry their license when driving on the road.

Drivers who travel without a license will be fined A $110.

Kunzhou

The regulations in Kunzhou are similar to those in Victoria.

According to (Department of Transport), Queensland Transportation Department, "if you are the holder of a temporary driver's license or a learner's (Learner Licence) license, you must carry a driver's license while driving." If a policeman asks, you must show it. However, if you have an open driver's license (Open Licence), is driving a car or motorcycle, you may have 48 hours to go to the police station to show your driver's license.

The driver would have to pay a fine of up to A $150 without a driver's license.

Western Australia

Western Australia's rules are much looser, and drivers do not have to carry a license when driving.

However, if stopped by the Western Australian police and asked for identification, the driver must show his driver's license at the police station "within a reasonable time".

South Australia

The regulations in South Australia are similar to those in Kunzhou.

If required by a police officer, the driver must present his driver's license immediately or within 48 hours to the designated police station.

A trainee driver's license (Probationary Licence), temporary license, or learner driver's license, is required to carry a driver's license when driving.

If a driver's license is not shown to the police, he will be fined A $750.

If you are holding a trainee driver's license, a temporary driver's license, or a learner's driver's license, the fine will soar to A $1250.

Tashoun

The driver must carry his license at any time. If you do not do so, you will be fined A $50.

But for those who have good reasons not to carry their license, the police can also give them discretion, such as the short distance farmers drive in the fields.

Northern Territory

When you are driving in the North Territory, you must carry your license at any time.

In addition, anyone travelling in the front seat with a L (learner's driver's license) driver must also carry their driver's license.
