The following is an official statement by Mr. Liu Qiangdong on the sexual invasion case of the party:
"although there have been a lot of inaccurate reports about the case, and these reports have come from journalists who did not attend the trial at all, there are no reports of any wrongdoing by Mr. Liu in this case.
The evidence presented at the trial also showed that Mr. Liu had just prepared dinner for everyone and hosted the birthday party in which both plaintiff and defendant attended.
Indeed, Judge, Noman SC pointed out that although plaintiff claimed that several men encouraged her to drink, she specifically excluded Mr. Liu from those men.
Although Mr. Liu wants his name not to be linked to the proceedings in the case, there have been no judgments, charges or media criticism of Mr. Liu's behaviour at all stages from the trial to the appeal.
Mr. Liu hopes that today's appeal results will lead to more accurate and responsible reporting for the future. "
