Judge Lagartus (Paul Lakatos) sentenced defendant, who is due to give birth in May, to at least seven months in prison, saying he believes only full-time prison terms are suitable for her.

Defendant and the 17-year-old victim met at her home, school classrooms and school storerooms. She had told the New State Supreme Court that she thought they were in love.

Later, she said, she realized that she had committed a sexual crime against the boy and that she was "very sorry".

Prosecutor Gallagher (Lara Gallagher) said earlier this week that the woman`s pregnancy, childbirth and special needs to take care of a newborn child could be properly addressed at the time of detention.

However, her defense lawyer, McCullen (David McCallum), said that while the Justice and Health Department had a good idea, the prosecutor`s statement was a bit naive.

He believes that defendant`s pregnancy should be taken into account in sentencing. Her pregnancy, combined with the fact that the baby may require corrective treatment at birth, makes the case special.
