The war between Australian car drivers and cyclists will not end in a short time. Many car drivers think bicycles should not go to the road, while cyclists think they have the same rights as motor vehicles.

According to the Australian News website, a special bicycle road rule in Australia has made car drivers extremely dissatisfied. There is so much resistance to the traffic rules that so far more than 89,000 people have signed the petition campaign to repeal the rule.

According to Australian traffic regulations, cyclists can ride side by side, but two cyclists cannot be more than 1.5m apart. The petition campaign, launched on Change.org, requires Australian cyclists to ride side by side and not to ride side by side.

Petition campaigners say the rules pose a risk of traffic accidents, especially if the new state issues new rules that require cars to keep a minimum safe distance through their bikes.

New state regulations issued earlier this month require bicycles to travel more than 1 meter after a speed limit of 60 km / h or less. If the speed is more than 60 km / h, you must maintain a distance of more than 1.5 meters.

Petition activists said the rules meant car drivers were forced to turn to other lanes to avoid cyclists.

"We are tired of wasting taxpayers` money on expensive road systems that plan specific bike lanes," wrote petition. "We watch cyclists in rows, occupying the main driveway and blocking traffic."

However, Ravin (Kim Lavender), director of the New State Bicycle Association (Bicycle NSW), said cyclists are actually safer to ride side by side, meaning that car drivers are less likely to overtake. Cyclists ride side by side, and car drivers can overtake as short as 2 meters; cyclists ride in single rows, and car drivers can overtake 3 meters or more. In addition, cyclists ride side-by-side, the goal is more obvious, car drivers are easier to see, and the probability of accidents decreases.
