On February 23, 2018, around 12:00, smoke billowed from a window above Haighs' Chocolate on, Rundle Mall Street near Beehive Corner in Adelaide, CBD! Suspected fire! Fire engines and emergency ambulances are on their way!
A citizen said on social media that dozens of police officers had been seen on Rundle Mall! Besides, the area was surrounded by crowds! It looks like it`s serious!
But just as some unknown citizens were watching in fear, a little boy in a fire suit and helmet appeared, and together with the other firefighters, he put out the "fire"!
It turned out that it was a pre-arranged fire drill. Firefighters in Adelaide organized the campaign to help Alex Tann, an 8-year-old with brain cancer, fulfill his wish.
Alex was reportedly diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 3 and was permanently blind! At the time, his parents were told by doctors that Alex might not survive his fourth birthday! However, Alex did not give up fighting the disease. Now, he`s eight years old! Small he also has a super dream, is to be "the best fireman"!
In order to realize his dream and let more people know that the children`s cancer association (Childhood Cancer Association), radio station staff Mark Soderstrom and Jodie Oddy led the organization of this special "Rundle Mall Fire fighting Operation!"!
It is reported that Soderstrom was originally a firefighter. Both government and emergency services expressed support for the special event and responded quickly, he said.
