The state is expected to open its second international airport by the end of this year, the Times reported. Avalon Airport (Avalon Airport) has confirmed that AirAsia (AirAsia) will operate its first overseas route at the airport.

It is reported that Avalon Airport and AirAsia will announce on Sunday that AirAsia will transfer twice a day to and from (Tullamarine Airport) and Kuala Lumpur airports in Melbourne to operate at Avalon Airport, which is expected to start at the end of 2018.

Avalon Airport is located 15 km northeast of Gillon (Geelong) and 50 km southwest of Melbourne. The airport will build an international terminal and set up security immigration, quarantine and border control services.

In 2015, the federal goverment approved the construction of an international terminal at Avalon Airport or the expansion of existing terminals to meet operational requirements on international routes. Goverment also agreed to renovate the runway at the airport and not restrict its cooperation with international airlines.

It is reported that Avalon Airport has been operating as a commercial airport since 2004, but so far there have been only flights from Jetstar (Jetstar), a cheap airline owned by Australian Airways, and only Sydney, Adelaide, from Australia.
