Industry experts say Australia`s garbage storage space could be filled in a matter of months, according to Ausa news agency.

Spedding (Max Spedding) of (National Waste and Recycling Industry Council), an Australian national waste collection industry association, said three months of waste had been hoarded after China changed its standards on imported waste. Garbage collection agencies are looking for new rental sites, and the storage crisis is looming.

"We have observed signs that we have been storing garbage for three months and that normal usable storage space has been filled," Spedding told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in an interview.

He said material recovery agencies are preparing to lease larger sites to address the storage crisis.

This week, it was revealed that Kunming`s Ipswich City Council, (Ipswich City Council), has abandoned its "yellow cover" recycling program, and it has been a month since recyclable waste was sent to landfills.

The Ipswich City Council said it would spend A $2 million a year on importing recyclable waste to China if it were to be shipped to China, the council said.

Ipswich City Council`s garbage collection contract is about to expire, so it decided to dump and recycle. However, there are concerns that other municipal councils will follow the example of the Ipswich council when their existing contracts expire.

Previously, Kunzhou`s government proposed the introduction of a new garbage tax to ensure that municipal councils were involved in the garbage collection process.

Kunzhou`s government hopes the tax policy will boost domestic garbage collection activities and promote other waste solutions, such as the use of certain technologies to convert waste into energy.
