Police fired on a man at the Ipswich train station west of Brisbane.
Police say the shooting took place at 4: 15 p.m., and a crime scene has been established.
There were reports that the man died on the spot, but the police refused to confirm it.

Translink said the Ipswich/Rosewood line suspended two-way service between the Thomas Street and Bundamba railway stations, causing passengers to be delayed for up to an hour.
Alternative buses have been arranged for the affected flights.
