Starting today (November 1), the state government imposed a light plastic bag ban on almost all the retailers in the state.
The ban applies to all plastic bags that are provided to customers with a thickness of less than 35 microns, including degradable, biodegradable and plastic bags that can be used as compost.

Why would the ban be enacted?
Plastic pollution is an urgent global environmental problem because, over time, plastic is broken down into small pieces, which means that its impact is long-term and will become more difficult to control.
In the past, some 10 billion plastic shopping bags were used by the Vstate people every year, with 10 million in the natural environment.
Didn`t the plastic bag been banned?
You may think that the Australian chain of chains, Coles and Woolworths, has stopped using plastic bags last year, but in fact the two supermarket giants have made their own ban on the whole.
They stop offering disposable plastic bags and start charging a small fee for a range of reusable bags.
A similar ban on other parts of Australia has been in place for a long time and has been implemented for 10 years in South Australia.
The legalisation came into force in the state from today, and the state government said it would make the non-compliant plastic bags inaccessible to the landfill and the watercourses and would not have threat on the marine life.
Which plastic bags are banned?

Other plastic bags that can be used also include a garbage bag, a bin liner, a dog`s manure bag, a urine bag, a medical waste bag, such as those in a live a return life hospital, and the necessary packaging of some of the food, such as bread and ice.
Most retailers will now charge a small amount of the reusable, thick plastic bags.

What`s the consequences of non-compliance with the business?
If the merchant is found to sell a prohibited plastic bag or to provide false or misleading information to the consumer about whether a plastic bag is a banned plastic bag type, the merchant will be fined a high fine of $50,000.
But some businesses have been exempt, such as the Bakers Delight. In a few months prior to the announcement of the ban in 2017, Bakers Delight ordered a large number of reusable plastic bags with a thickness of 35 microns.
Bakers Delight said that if the plastic bags were not available to customers in the various stores in their state, they could only enter the landfill.

The response of the enterprise to the ban was somewhat negative and some of the consumer objected to it.
Environmentalists also expressed some concerns about the alternative to these plastic bags.
Some studies have found that about 1% of the plastic bags used by Australians are in the natural environment.
If a reusable thick plastic bag enters the sea or other habitat, it is possible to form a more severe environment, then, because they require a longer time to degrade.
But the Retail Association says, in general, they are working with businesses and their customers to ensure that everyone is prepared for the ban.
According to the survey,96% of the vistates support the ban.
