"I killed a child, I don`t want to live," an 86-year-old woman who killed a 6-year-old girl in a parking lot on Sunshine Coast in (Sunshine Coast) told her husband. She died at the hospital this week.

On June 17th, 86-year-old former teacher Miriam Grace Paton ran over a girl named Indie Armstrong while backing up in the parking lot of Nambour Shopping Center.

At the time of the accident, Indie and her 8-year-old sister, their mother, Emily, and their grandmother, Sandy Bampton, stood in the aisle together.

The 8-year-old girl and Ms. Bampton were also injured.

Ms Paton was charged with dangerous car-rigging leading to death, but missed several court days because of ill health.

Two days after the accident, she was admitted to hospital with a spinal injury and then suffered from pneumonia.

Lawyer Peter Boyce said Ms. Paton had been in the hospital almost since Indie`s death.

"`I killed a child. I don`t want to live. `she told her husband." Lawyer Boyce told Australia and Guangzhou.

"she made a decision not to seek further treatment."

"it`s tragic, she`s been in hospital since the accident."

"I`ll never forget the pain on her face when we talk about it briefly. The small, frail Miriam made the decision that there was no need for further treatment. "

"`I killed a child. I don`t want to live. `that`s what she said."

Ms. Paton has no children of her own, but is committed to education all her life.

"she not only teaches, she makes extra efforts to help the children." Boyce said.

"it`s a tragic result, not only for Miriam and his family, but also for Indie`s family, who are still suffering."

He said Ms. Paton`s 90-year-old husband, Stuart, was "in a difficult situation."

"as for his age, he was great and went to the hospital to accompany her. We have to live on, but he has lost his wife and soul mate. "

"but she would not want her death to hide her remorse."
