A politician in Australia posted a photo of a dead snake on a social networking site, bragging that he was quick to kill a snake who broke into his home, and that he drew a lot of criticism.

(Mark Robinson), an Australian Liberal MP, shared a photo of a dead snake on Facebook on Sunday night, according to the Daily Mail. The snake broke into his home southeast of Brisbane, according to the Daily Mail. Robinson decided the snake was dangerous and said he was lucky not to have been bitten before he succeeded in killing the snake.

However, Robinson may actually have violated a little-known rule.

It is a crime to kill, injure or remove wild snakes according to Queensland regulations. Queensland rules protect snakes because they play an important role in controlling the number of harmful sugarcane toads.

The Redland's Snake Catcher Snake Hunter Agency took the lead in attacking Robinson through an official account, saying the snake is actually a non-toxic fish snake and is known for specialising in sugar cane toads, not what Robinson believes to be a highly toxic brown snake. In addition, the agency urged residents to seek assistance from professional snake hunters when confronted with snakes.

Robinson then responded, saying he had no choice but to fight back when the snake, which looked like a venomous eastern brown snake, attacked him. Otherwise, you have to be bitten by a snake, try to catch it alive, and pray that it is not a venomous brown snake.

So far, Robinson has deleted the original controversial statement.
