According to Radio 9, the Federal government warned people who rely on benefits but do not want to work that they will be cancelled for a month if they refuse to accept a farm job without proper reasons.

It is reported that the federal government will increase penalties for people who receive benefits but refuse to work in remote areas.

At present, Australian farmers are preparing for the harvest season.

Mr (Scott Morrison) said government had learned that it was difficult for farmers to find people, especially during the peak hours of some crop harvests. Government hopes to highlight where jobs are available in Australia and to ensure that job seekers know where to find jobs.

In addition, if necessary, government will also consider allowing other overseas workers to work on farms.

Nor will government let the fruit rot when it is not possible to find enough Australians to finish farm work, Morrison said. The government will consider adjusting seasonal labor programs such as the (Seasonal Worker Programme), Pacific Labor Program (Pacific Labour Scheme), working vacation visa (Working Holiday Maker visa) and others to fill the workforce gap.

However, the primary aim of these measures is to address the shortage of local labour, while ensuring that pensioners have no excuse to refuse jobs.

To achieve this, government also called on farmers in remote areas who needed manpower, as well as job seekers to contact (National Harvest Labour Information Service), the national harvest labor information service.

It is understood that at present, a registered person at Jobactive will be cancelled for four weeks if he refuses to do the right job without proper reasons.
