Two months after the collapse of the Sydney railway system, next week, Sydney train company (Sydney Trains) will make another adjustment to the timetable, cutting about 94 trains a week, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Sydney has thousands of trains a week, with less than 1% of the shift. North Line, North Coast (North Shore) Line, Penn Town (Bankstown) Line, Cumberland (Cumberland) and Carlinford West (Carlingford) Line will be affected.

Collins (Howard Collins), chief executive of Sydney Train, said most of the service cuts took place late at night or early in the morning, and the number of passengers on those flights was low, according to Aobalka (Opal).

"We are reusing train and driver resources. We don`t want to run these trains when nobody uses them. " "some of the service shifts are after 4:30 or after midnight," he said.

A report on the resilience of the railway system from major events, published last month, found that the railway system was still vulnerable to damage, following the collapse of Sydney train traffic from January 8 to 9. This is due to the train branch lines, interchanges and intersections, and make the system "complex and chaotic".

The report recommends short-term measures, including reducing off-peak service shifts to improve emergency recovery during morning and evening rush hours, recruiting more drivers, upgrading the old train communications system, and so on.

The new train timetable, introduced on Nov. 26, has been accused by Labour and train unions of reducing the ability of the railway system to recover from major delays.

On Wednesday morning, a train broke down near Brode Maddox (Broadmeadows), signaling equipment needed emergency repair. Subsequently, West Line, North Coast passengers encountered delays. About 20 passengers on the faulty train had to get off for another train service.

And in terms of operations, some 11500 rail workers will vote on whether to accept the new business agreement, which comes into effect on Thursday. The proposed deal would include a one-time payment of A $1000 to workers, a 3 percent increase in annual pay, and severance payments of up to 64 weeks for three consecutive years.
