A hardline Islam leader was dismissed from public office for telling believers that women needed a veil so that men could control their sexual impulses.

Zainadine Johnson, the leader of Muslim in Queensland, talked about the sexual harassment incident of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein when advising women that they needed to cover their bodies.

"Men should be able to control themselves, which is a common argument about the Islam veil," he told Facebook followers.

"I totally agree that they should be able to control themselves, but it turns out that a lot of people can`t, that`s why veils are necessary for women."

The Sunni founder of mosque in Logan was dismissed from office six days after the Daily Mail reported.

"I was fine before you called. I was fired for your article, "he said on Sunday night."

"I don`t want to talk to you."

He described his dismissal as a problem with freedom of speech.

"do we really have freedom of religion? Do we really have freedom of speech? " He asked his 4923 followers on Facebook.

"does the law allow them to fire me because I say what I believe in?"

He said several colleagues at the goverment agency he worked for were fired immediately after reading the report.

"people often insult my religion, someone made porn videos to insult my prophets, but this is freedom of speech," he said.

"but when I told about my religion on my Facebook page, I was expelled."

He said he worked "secretly" for an emergency service in the state of goverment, "helping people in Queensland every day and saving children`s lives."

But he declined to name the government agency to avoid anti-Islam groups trying to slander his employer.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service says it has no record of his appointment.
