Three people were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Adelaide, and police arrested three young girls.

Three underage girls charged with arson in Adelaide apartment building fire

The fire broke out yesterday at the corner of Peachey Road and Curtis Road in the Munno Para district. Last night, South Australian police arrested a 12-year-old, 12-year-old and 13-year-old girl.

City and village fire stations and emergency workers arrived at the three-story fire site at 4:45 yesterday.

One man jumped to survive while two other residents were rescued from the fire by firefighters. The two residents were taken to Lyell McEwin Hospital for smoke inhalation.

A volunteer of the rural fire department was taken to the hospital because of the heat.

One of the trapped, 22-year-old Jayden O`Connor, was listening to music in her room when she heard a fire alarm next door.

He said that because of the fire, he couldn`t get to the hallway hall, the only way out of the building.

"I went to the balcony and heard people say the building was going to collapse." "I have two options: stay on the collapsed balcony and wait for help, or jump down and see what happens," he said.

He jumped into the shed and landed safely.

Diners in the restaurant downstairs of the apartment were forced to evacuate.

Firefighters confirmed that the fire started on the second floor of the apartment building and spread rapidly.

Police said today that the girls were charged with arson and acts threatening human life.

They have been released on bail and appeared before the Elizabeth Youth Court in November.

Fire investigators and North District CIB agents went to the scene.

The village fire station initially estimated building damage at $2 million.

Thirteen fire engines, 52 firefighters took an hour to control the fire.
