According to the Daily Mail, police were shocked by video footage showing two teenagers beating a kangaroo who had fallen to the ground several times with wooden sticks.

The video is believed to have been filmed on (Kalamunda) `s zigzag path, (Zig Zag trail), in Calamanda, Western Australia, and uploaded to the Snapchat platform earlier this week.

Video shows a kangaroo falling to the ground and two teenagers beating him on the head with a wooden stick. There was another teenager next to him laughing and making a video. Frightened, the poor kangaroo raised his claws to try to protect himself.

Western Australian police said it was an "appalling, cowardly and cruel" attack.

Swift (Amanda Swift), chief investigator at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Animal abuse (RSPCA), called on people who knew the teenagers involved to contact the police. "this is another of the most abhorrent cases of cruelty to Australia`s iconic animals," she said.
