A man in the northern Australian Territory used wild crocodiles as pets, feeding them regularly and making fun of them, a report reported on Radio 7. The video sparked heated debate.

On a regular basis, (Dima), an indigenous (Yolngu) native of (Yolngu) in the north-east of Annabi (Arnhem Land), feeds his "pet", a crocodile named Nike, by the water. According to a video posted by the website welcometocountry.org, Dima, with a fish in her hand, continues to induce Nike to climb ashore from the water. At the nearest point, Dima`s hand was a few inches from the crocodile`s head. "Dima and Nike play as freely as ordinary people play with their pet dogs or cats," the website said.

It is reported that Dima`s Yonggu people have high respect for crocodiles and even regard crocodiles as protectors of the community.

Video released after the heated discussion, wildlife experts warned wild crocodiles are difficult to tame, do not overtouch.

In an interview with the Park and Wildlife Council`s chief administrator of the Northern Territory, Nichols (Tommy Nichols) said that such close exposure to wildlife was "asking for trouble" and "too stupid."

Nichols said the crocodile`s behavior was extremely unpredictable and it was best not to touch it. Crocodiles may be friendly for a second and crazy for the next. If people really want to interact closely with crocodiles, go to the regular park.
