A man in Sydney is trying to create a new selfie trend, leading to a conflict with police.

At about 2 a.m. on Sunday, a man on the (Manly) Corso Walk Street in Sydney grabbed a seagull, shouting excitedly, "I grab one," as he tried to take a selfie, the Daily Mail reported.

Police officers at (Northern Beaches), a beach north of Sydney, said the group of up to 20 men and women had started shouting and attracted their attention. Police then saw the 23-year-old man grabbing a seagull in his left hand. The latter`s wings spread out, apparently in pain.

The police asked the man to let go of the seagulls lightly, and the man did so. Despite some shock, the seagull flapped its wings to safety after a moment of confusion.

Police then talked to the man and found that the man`s eyes were congested and his station was unstable. The man admitted that he had been drinking all night while watching Sydney surfing.

In view of the fact that the injured seagulls did not raise prosecute, police ordered the man leave Manley CBD not to return for six hours.

Sydney`s many tourist hotspots are known for gathering seagulls, with a rich array of snacks and distracting visitors.
