A 12-year-old girl gave birth at a Perth hospital a month ago.

The 11-year-old was pregnant at Perth Hospital earlier this month, making her one of the youngest mothers in Western Australia`s history, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Don (Jackie Tang), deputy director of general services at the Western Australian Community Services Agency, did not comment on the individual case, citing the protection of minors and their families` privacy. But she said the Western Australia Community Services Department, the Western Australian Police and the Western Australian Department of Health would work together to ensure that the results were "in the best interests of all concerned".

Tang said that in order to safeguard the long-term interests of all parties, the Western Australian government and external support agencies need to respond in a coordinated manner in the short and long term.

In addition, the WA Community Service Office did not confirm or deny the birth of the child, but Ms. Tang said that if the public was concerned about the situation of the child`s young mother, the staff of the department and the departments concerned would assess all possible circumstances. And take appropriate measures accordingly.

"if the public is concerned about child sexual abuse, the agency will conduct a thorough investigation," she said. If necessary, the Department will refer the matter to the Western Australian Police for further investigation and provide the necessary support to the latter. "
