An Australian father and son accidentally capsized and died Sunday as they tried to save a tourist caught up in the sea.

At about 10:40 this morning, a Singaporean man shot the mouth of the (Sherbrook River) River in the Port of Campbell, Victoria, and was caught in the sea by huge waves from rocks, the Daily Mail reported.

Three rescue workers from (Port Campbell Surf Lifesaving Club), the surfer life-saving club in Port Campbell, sailed the rescue. However, the 6-meter lifeboat was overturned by rough waves, causing rescue workers to all fall.

A rescue helicopter then used a cable to lift a 30-year-old tourist and a rescue worker to a safe area. The 50-year-old rescue worker was seriously injured in the back and leg and was rushed to hospital by a rescue helicopter. The tourists were in stable condition and were taken to the hospital through an ambulance.

Two other rescuers, 71 and 32, drowned.

James (Paul James), (Surf Life Saving Victoria) president of the Surfer Life Saving Society of Victoria, lamented the "heroes" of the two long-serving surfer lifeguards, saying their deaths were "too painful and heartbreaking."
