An emergency worker failed to save a 42-year-old man who was stung to death by the devil fish (Stingray) while swimming at the seaside in Horbart.
The man was stung in the abdomen on Saturday afternoon while swimming at the Lauderdale beach, 13 kilometers east of Hobart, the state police confirmed.
The police statement said: "the rescue of his failed. At the last minute before he died, he was immersed in water not far from the shore. His friends pulled him out of the water before the emergency service arrived. He was reportedly unaccompanied in the water and stabbed in the lower abdomen. "
An eyewitness told ABC that she saw a number of paramedics performing CPR. on a man at Roches Beach in Lauderdale at more than 3 p.m.
The other witnesses who were present were unable to speak publicly because they were too sad.
Clarence Mayor Doug Chipman said the city could consider closing the beach.
