Oil prices in Australia's capital cities hit a four-year high of $1.45 per litre

Unleaded gasoline prices in Australia's capital cities have risen to a four-year high. Compared with the same period in the previous fiscal year, gasoline prices in the capitals of the five states rose nearly 12 percent to an average of 1.45 yuan per litre.

Oil prices in Brisbane have been the highest in 18 of the past 24 months, surpassing those in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, according to the latest gasoline price surveillance report released Tuesday by the Australian Competition and Consumer Council (ACCC).

"the main reason for the increase in oil prices is the rise in international crude oil prices and refined oil prices, and the decline in the Australian dollar against the US dollar," said Sims (Rod Sims), chairman of the (ACCC).

He also said OPEC's monopoly on oil had a devastating impact on Australia's oil prices. The effect of limiting the supply of oil, which rose steadily in the previous fiscal year, was evident.

Simms advises motorists to use mobile software to find the cheapest gasoline.
