The dirty methods of parking law enforcement officers in Sydney have been exposed

News from Radio 7

A whistleblower has revealed the dirty tactics of some Sydney parking law enforcement officers to issue tickets to drivers, even though they are legally parked.

The city hall parking law enforcement officer interviewed Channel 7, saying some of his colleagues falsified evidence and revealed who got the most tickets in their game.

The informant said that "taking pictures from a certain angle or from a distance" is a common practice that makes drivers appear to have not bought a parking ticket.

The man said to Channel 7: "after four weeks, he will receive a letter that you stopped without buying tickets in this place, and then he will say, wait a minute, I did buy tickets."

"but, logically, no one likes to put garbage in their cars. He's probably thrown out of his parking ticket, and he has to pay the ticket."

He admitted that some parking law enforcement officials had breached a "thought-out performance system".

The man, who asked not to be identified, said ticket performance had never been specified but that some parking law enforcement officers had been bullied to increase the number of tickets.

The informant said: "they are proud to have issued 20,30,40 tickets." They were proud of a man who had been ordered to park in an unparked area. Why would you be proud? There is nothing to be proud of. "

Throughout the province, putting pressure on parking law enforcement officers to issue tickets is useful, and the data can be startling.

Since 2011, drivers have been fined more than a billion yuan.

Among the worst affected areas were Pitt Street, 's 16359 tickets, worth 2.4 million, and Castlereagh Street, 's 9445, with a total value of 1.3 million.

Other affected areas include Mrs Macquarie's Road, Balmain's Darling Street and Newtown's Lennox Street.
