A fire engulfed a house in Lake Macquarie on Monday, but the two men escaped.
At the time of the accident, two men were trapped in the house, one of whom was unconscious and surrounded by flames. Two people at work discovered the fire and called the police.
They rushed into the house with their neighbors to help two trapped men escape the fire.
One of the trapped men, about 30, who was in a coma after inhaling smoke during the fire at about 6 a.m. on Monday morning, is in critical but stable condition.
Another 51-year-old man inhaled a small amount of smoke and was treated at the scene.
The neighbors smelled smoke and saw the flames coming out of the cabin. They were immediately alert and rushed to the burning cabin.

Stuart O'Keefe, from the rural fire department, said the two men were very lucky.
He said: "they are trapped, it is difficult to get out of the house, but finally rescued, so they are lucky."

Three cars in the driveway were also destroyed in the fire.
