Don't do this for a ride in Australia, or you'll be fined a hefty sum.

An Australian man aboard Uber (Uber) was fined A $200 for violating a little-known rule.

Western Australian traffic police stopped a car last weekend when it noticed a man holding an alcoholic drink, the Daily Mail reported. Western Australia's law forbids people from drinking in public, and motor vehicles and public transport, including travel-sharing services, are also in the public domain. In the car there is an alcohol container with the lid open, even "drinking".

The man was seen drinking and then tried to quickly throw alcoholic drinks under his seat. Police eventually fined him A $200 for "street drinking."

People who drink alcoholic drinks while taking a taxi in New or Victoria may face a fine of up to A $1100, it is reported. The maximum fine in South Australia is A $1250 and the maximum in Kunzhou is A $2523. The Northern Territory has the highest fines, with a maximum fine of A $4620 if people drink in public.
