Australia enjoys the reputation of the healthiest country in the world and has one of the longest average life expectancy in the world. However, more and more Australian residents suffer from chronic diseases.

According to the Daily Mail, Harris (Ben Harris), a health policy expert at the University of Victoria Michelle Institute (Victoria University's Mitchell Institute), analyzed (National Health Survey) data from the latest National Health Survey and found that 11.4 million of Australia's residents currently suffer from slow venereal disease, which accounts for nearly 50 percent of the population.

"this is a significant increase from 40 percent a decade ago," Harris told the media. "about 1: 3 slow venereal disease is preventable, but only 1.3 percent of our national health budget is spent on disease prevention."

"We need to do more to prevent and manage slow venereal disease," Harris said. "We need to start treating people, not diseases. The health system has to make change."

Chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, asthma, mental health problems and dementia, usually require long-term comprehensive care.

Murphy (Brendan Murphy), Australia's chief medical officer, told the media that the biggest challenge facing the health system was the obesity crisis.

"I think it's beyond reproach to call it a crisis," Murphy said. "globally, our people are quite ashamed of obesity-nearly 1 to 3 are obese, and nearly 2 to 3 are overweight or obese," Murphy said. "this is a huge challenge for us. In my opinion, we need to take a variety of approaches in nutrition, exercise, especially attention in early childhood and so on."

Staying away from obesity can effectively prevent other chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
